Huawei were announced as one of the Windows Phone 8 launch partners at the Developer Summit in June, alongside Nokia, Samsung and HTC. While the other OEMs have announced their Windows Phone 8 offerings, Huawei has so far only announced via a press release that they intend to launch an Ascend Windows Phone 8 handset before the end of the year. This device name was then confirmed as the Ascend W1 by Huawei’s CEO, Cheng Dong Yu, on his official Sina Weibo acccount.

Now, an alleged image of the display panel component for the Huawei Ascend W1 has been leaked [above]. Not much can be made out of the image besides that it definitely is a Windows Phone 8 device the screen is meant for as the panel clearly has a Huawei logo and the three Windows Phone 8 buttons.

Huawei's CEO also confirmed that the device will be announced during Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 launch event on the 29th October. The Ascend W1 device is expected to launch before the end of the year, first in the US, Europe and China, with other countries to follow.
