Nokia Lumia 920 available for pre-order from on-line UK retailer for 469.99 GBP

UK on-line retailer Digital-Phone.co.uk is taking pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 920. The site is asking for 469.99 GBP for an unlocked sim-free device. The price includes VAT [Value Added Tax] and free delivery. This comes after a Chinese retailer made the Nokia Lumia 920 available for pre-order at a lesser price of around 320 GBP.
What is more interesting is the fact that the retailer claims the device will be available on the 16th of October - which so happens to be just about three weeks away - that is despite the fact that Nokia has not made an official announcement on pricing and Microsoft is still to unveil the Windows Phone 8 operating system. Pardon our cynicism but we don't think the date is doable unless both Microsoft and Nokia make some sort of announcement within the next week.
For the benefit of our friends across the pond and others around the world, 469.99 GBP is about 760 USD (including VAT). That translates to round 390 GBP or 630 USD before tax.
The pricing of both the Lumia 920 and 820 have been subject to speculation because Nokia could not be bothered to reveal any figures. It begs the question, why are they being so coy and evasive? We suspect there are going to be a few raised eyebrows when the figures are finally revealed. Either the new Lumias will be unreasonably expensive or dirt cheap. So far, rumours have indicated that both devices will be competently priced and we hope for Nokia's sake that is indeed the case.
