WhatsApp for Windows Phone 8 screenshots revealed

While trying to solve the mystery behind the disappearance of the WhatsAppp official client for Windows Phone from Marketplace, Windows Phone Daily's Saad Hashmi got more that he bargained for.
What we have here are screenshots of what appears to be the Windows Phone 8 version of the application. Not much functionality or additional features can be seen on any of the screenshots besides the new tile sizes. The Windows Phone 8 WhatsApp will be able to utilise the three different tile sizes. Whats rather confusing is that the tile notification counter is still the same old Windows Phone 7 round black one instead the of a square one.
More screenshots can be found here.
One other thing, does this mean the WhatsApp developers have had access the upcoming SDK (Software development Kit) for Windows Phone 8?
